portable thermostatic chamber

The laboratory instruments that we collectively call “climatic chambers” are built for all uses and in all sizes.

There are climatic chambers no larger than a microwave oven and climatic chambers designed to accommodate several people and even spacecraft.

Knowing how to choose the size of our thermostatic chamber wisely is fundamental and in this article, we will evaluate the pros and cons of a portable heating chamber and, vice versa, of a large climatic chamber.

The Advantages of a Large Climate Chamber

Most of the climatic chambers on the market are not portable. The most common material test chambers are the size of a normal refrigerator and capacities of thousands of litres.

There is also an entire class of climatic chambers called "walk-in" because they can accommodate at least one person inside and are real rooms for carrying out tests on human beings.

The breadth of these tools has at least two advantages. On the one hand, it allows you to speed up tests on materials, hosting many samples inside, also increasing the effectiveness and accuracy of the results.

On the other hand, there is more room for manoeuvre regarding the changes that can be made to the chamber itself. Salt spray diffusion systems and LED and UV lighting sets can be installed in various configurations.

The disadvantages relate to the costs and transport difficulties that we will address in the next paragraph.

The Advantages of a Portable Thermostatic Chamber

Even if they are less common, there are also portable thermostatic chambers that are the size of a microwave oven or a minibar, to stay on the subject.

The first advantage of these small chambers is their more than affordable cost: if your test needs can be satisfied by a capacity of 25 or 100 litres, we certainly recommend that you choose these measures.

In addition, they are also easily transportable instruments: for those who need to perform tests directly on-site, such as on a construction site, or to share it with more than one laboratory, the portable thermostatic chamber is the ideal tool.

There is also a class of products that are almost always portable in size and these are laboratory stoves.

Example: Portable Heating Chambers

Alternatively called ovens or dryers, these instruments are also known as “portable heating chambers” due to their small size.

In fact, to the untrained eye, they are almost indistinguishable from a common microwave oven, although their performance far exceeds those of their "cousins" of everyday life.

These portable thermostatic chambers have only the temperature parameter but can reach extreme temperatures ranging from 200 ° to 350 °. We have talked about their uses in detail here.
